JASPER COUNTY — A Rensselaer man was arrested for burglary, residential entry and criminal mischief last week after Jasper County Sheriff’s Department deputies investigated a residential alarm in November.
Brian A. Arnett, 41, was jailed in Jasper County after an outstanding warrant was issued in March. He was arrested on the above charges on Sept. 3.
According to police, an investigation into a residential entry incident began on Nov. 13. The residence is located seven miles of northwest of Rensselaer.
Upon arrival, deputies found fresh tire tracks and footprints. Deputies also noted a window of a door had been broken with another door damaged.
JCSD requested the assistance of an Indiana State Police Scene Technician, who processed the scene. The homeowner, meanwhile, allowed deputies to view home security camera footage which helped provide a description of the suspect.
The homeowner also provided the investigating deputy with possible names of people who could have been involved. This information was provided to JCSD detectives and charges were filed against Arnett by the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office.
As a reminder, arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
