RENSSELAER — A group of parents in Rensselaer gathered this summer to organize the second annual Rensselaer Back to School Fair that coincided with the Aug. 7 Teen Mission’s Community Day.

Because of generous donations from local businesses and their hard work, hundreds of children in the Rensselaer school system received free school supplies for the start of this school year.

The generosity did not stop there. There was enough money and extra supplies donated to re-stock the teacher supply closets that were installed last summer (at the primary school and Van Elementary) by the Elementary Parent Teacher Organization and Rensselaer Back to School Fair Committee.

But it doesn’t end there. There was so much community support – checks were written to all local Rensselaer schools (St. Augustine, primary, Van, middle and high schools) for a grant of support for the arts and music in each building.
