NORTHWESTERN INDIANA — Indiana District 1 FFA Officers recently handed out jackets as part of a new program they created this year — Gift of Gold.
Based off of the National FFA’s Gift of Blue, the Gift of Gold is a way to gift an FFA blue corduroy jacket to FFA members ranging from grades 8-11. This jacket would be the member’s first ever FFA jacket.
Members wanting to receive a jacket are able to fill out an application and then two winners would be chosen out of all of the applications turned in.
“We were hoping to present the jackets to the two winners at District Convention this year,” stated Kayla Florian District 1 secretary. “However, with the recent circumstances, that was not able to happen. Luckily, yesterday, June 4th, 2020, Luc Sproles District 1 FFA President; Kylie Blann (North Newton) District 1 FFA Reporter, and myself were able to travel to the recipients houses to present them their jackets.”
The recipients were Elizabeth Tate from the South Central FFA Chapter, and Cambell Pekny from the Frontier FFA Chapter. District 1 FFA hopes to continue the Gift of Gold program in the future with hopes of gifting FFA jackets to outstanding members throughout District 1.
