MERRILLVILLE — The families of the passengers and crew of the ill-fated American Eagle Flight 4184 that crashed into a bean field south of Roselawn on Halloween night, Oct. 31, 1994, gathered for a forum on the legacy of the flight. Family members learned what happened that night 20 years ago and the positives that came from that tragedy, where 64 passengers and four crew members, all on board, were lost in an instant.

Former NTSB investigators who had been part of the investigation into the accident of Flight 4184 talked to a large group of family members at the Radisson Hotel in Merrillville Thursday night, a day before the anniversary of the tragic accident that forever changed their lives and the lives of the small community around the accident. Greg Feith, the lead investigator, and Charley Pereira, an aeronautic engineer in the investigation, told how the events of that night occurred, then explained how they went about their investigation and the conclusions they came up with after a two year investigation.
