Hoopeston Parks Department, Silver Bros. and Silgan representatives stand with the new basketball goals that were recently installed at McFerren Park. Pictured are: employee Charles Landers and lead man Roger Uden of the Hoopeston Parks Department; Mike McMeekan, Silgan plant manager, and Jesus Avitia, a Silgan employee, and Brian Silver of Silver Bros.

The basketball court at McFerren Park has a new set of goals.

The goals are part of the MegaSlam 2 FX60 system and cost a total of $3,358.

Silgan paid $2,000 of the total cost while the City of Hoopeston covered the remainder of the cost. Silver Bros. donated the concrete to set the goals.

Silgan got involved with the project after Jesus Avitia, a Silgan employee, talked to Silgan Plant Manager Mike McMeekan about the bad shape of the old goals and asked if Silgan could do something about it.
