West Lebanon’s 150th celebration parade had a couple special guests on July 13, reprising their roles from the 1969 town celebration, John and Ruth Goodin. They were the grand marshals.

This fine couple will be celebrating their 73rd wedding anniversary later this year, and have been residents of West Lebanon since the mid 1960s when John retired from Mobil Oil. Then John’s next job was driving school bus for the Seeger schools until he reached the age of 80.

“I had to retire from that because I couldn’t hear well anymore,” John explained.

Ruth was a familiar face at the Old National Bank and Farmer’s and Merchants Bank of West Lebanon.

The Goodins have three children, two sons and daughter, one son deceased. They attend the West Lebanon Christian Church.

John said part of his longevity can be attributed to his wife’s good cooking.
