The Indiana D-4 trailer was brought into the cooperative area for training with four departments in the area to practice different scenarios of preparedness.
Greg Robison, Environmental Health Specialist of the Williamsport Fire Department, said, “We try to practice different skills each time we hold training.” “Rescue and rapid intervention was the skill set being addressed during this session.”
Among the four departments — Attica, Pine Village, West Lebanon and Williamsport — participating in the May 30 session with the trailer, 20 men participated and will then train their departments on the skills that they practiced on the day.
Robison explained that the men were divided into groups and rotated through several skills, being evaluated on reaction times and techniques in order to be ready for any instances it might happen at an actual emergency.
The mobile live fire trainer is brought in at least once a year for a full spectrum opportunity to sharpen skills to the closest possible real-life setting, Robison added.
