Earlier this week, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person complaint for a 38 year-old April Lynn Salazar-Bernal of the Wheatfield area. She was last believed to be in the Merrillville or possibly the Gary area. In the late afternoon of Thursday, March 15th, the JCSO was told by the Hobart Police Department that her body had been located in Hobart.
“We are assisting Hobart PD with the ongoing active investigation since Salazar-Bernal was a missing person from Jasper County,” the JCSO stated. “...Please keep April Lynn Salazar-Bernal’s family and friends in prayer,”
According to a report from the Northwest Indiana Times, her vehicle was found vehicle in the 4800 block of Grant Street in Calumet Township. During the related investigation, A 40-year-old Calumet Township man, described as a person of interest, was placed in custody on Friday after an incident involving a SWAT team Thursday night.
As of Friday, the cause of death remains pending.
