JASPER COUNTY — In the morning hours of June 8, a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of State Rd. 114 and County Rd. 850 West for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Brandon L. Bodhaine, 33, of Hobart, and his passengers identified as Thomas J. Lewandowski, 24, from East Chicago, and Abigail Ulm, 28, of Rensselaer. Ulm admitted to the deputy that she had an active warrant for her arrest and was immediately taken into custody. A search of her purse revealed that she had several hypodermic needles inside.
One of Jasper County’s K-9s units responded to the scene and completed a drug sweep around the vehicle. One of the dogs alerted on the vehicle, and a search of the vehicle was completed. Under the driver’s seat were two marijuana smoking devices that field-tested positive for marijuana. Inside and under the dash, between the center console and the dash, was a clear and white smoking device, used for smoking. This field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Bodhaine and Lewandowski were both taken into custody at this time.
All three people were transported to the Jasper County Detention Center and incarcerated for the following charges:
Bodhaine was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
Lewandowski was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, possession of paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
Ulm was arrested for possession of a hypodermic needle, a level 6 felony and having an active warrant.
