In the early afternoon of July 6, the Jasper County Sheriff’s office was notified of a physical domestic disturbance that had occurred at a residence several miles northeast of Rensselaer. The caller said the incident was the fault of Jason Elliott, 46, from Medaryville.
Deputies arrived at the scene and were told that Elliot’s fight with the alleged victim began verbally. But when the victim attempted to bring a kennel into the residence, he pushed back on the kennel, causing the victim to trip on a coffee table and fall to the floor.
Deputies reported that the victim had fresh cuts and scrapes on her legs and redness to her stomach that were consistent with her story. Deputies were also told about the incident by a young child who was at the scene.
Elliott was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a child, a level 6 felony.
