JASPER COUNTY — Derek Bobby, 23, and Cameron Sifrer, 21, both of DeMotte, grew up next door to each other and had remained long-time friends. On Friday, July 12, Derek Bobby was found dead by his sister at his home in the Georgetown subdivision of DeMotte on 1100 North and 1100 West. Sifrer, 21, has been charged with the murder.
Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department responded to the intial call placed by Bobby's sister. Upon arrival, Deputy Russ Shouse found Bobby in his bedroom where it was determined that he had been deceased for several hours from severe head trauma. The body was identified by Bobby's sister.
