After starting the season 1-2, the South Newton Lady Rebels are now enjoying a five game win streak after defeating Iroquois West, Watseka, LaCrosse and North Judson last week.

South Newton defeated Iroquois West 19-8 in five innings April 8 as they closed out the game with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth. Alexis Conradi (2-3) drove in four runs, while Hayley Warne (2-4) and Kim Hall (2-4) each picked up three RBIs. Also driving in runs for the Lady Rebels were Shanelle Embery (2-4 with two RBIs), Elizabeth Garing (2-3), Sarah Lanie (3-3).

Warne notched the win, tossing four innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks, while striking out five.

The Lady Rebels followed that up by knocking off Watseka 10-3, April 9. Hayley Warne (2-4) and Shanelle Embery combined to drive in five runs to lead South Newton in the win. Jaimie Diedam went 4-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Malyah Embery was 2-3 with an RBI and three runs scored. Sarah Lanie also added three hits and an RBI in the win.

Freshman Jaelin Marks pitched all seven innings to get the win, allowing three runs (none earned) on four hits and two walks, while striking out five.

In the first of two games on April 13, the Lady Rebels rolled over LaCrosse 14-0 in five innings.

Leading the way for South Newton were: Warne (1-1, with an RBI and four runs scored), Garing (2-3 with an RBI and a run scored), Conradi (4-4 with two runs scored), Lanie (2-2), and Diedam (2-2 with three runs scored).

Marks picked up the win as she tossed all five innings allowing no runs on just three hits, while striking out four.

In the second game, Shanelle Embery drove in all three runs to lead the Lady Rebels past North Judson 3-2 in nine innings.

With the game tied 2-2, the bases loaded and having a full count, Shanelle Embery fouled off eight pitches before drawing the game-winning RBI walk. Embery was 2-4 in the game, while Diedam went 2-4 with two runs scored.

Marks pitched eight innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on 10 hits and a walk to earn the victory.

South Newton is now 5-2 on the season.
