The Beaver Township Community Center will host a meeting for the Newton County SWCD on Feb. 21. a snow date of Feb 28 is reserved. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. CST and feature Danny Russell as Daniel Boone, in a performance he has given at various Jasper County events, such as the Little Cousin Jasper Festival.
Boone led one of the most eventful lives in American history. Love of exploration, unmatched skill in the great outdoors, facility with native peoples and dignity in the face of death made him a folk hero. In this compelling portrait, Boone relives years filled with adventure, hardship and danger — losing two sons and a brother settling Kentucky, discovering what is today known as Squire Boone Caverns in southern Indiana, rescuing his kidnapped daughter, as well as defeating a Shawnee siege through pure courage and cunning. He even teaches a few Indian phrases along the way.
Tickets to the event are sponsored by Republic Services, Manchester AG, Gutwein Seed Services, Applegate’s Seed House, Ceres Solutions – Ade Branch, Kentland Bank and Farm Bureau which includes a delicious catered dinner by Hazelden Country Club.
