As new owners of the dragstrip in Morocco, the US 41 Motorplex, prepare for their first full season of racing, they want to show Newton County that things will be different with them in control.
“We want to show the changes we have made here,” said co-owner Tim Ringer of Dyer, Indiana. “Newton County residents will get in free with valid ID all season long. This is a way to show our appreciation to the county and its residents and it is also a way to show everyone that things will be different with us running things.”
Ringer owns the track with Bill Hupke of Monee, Illinois.
“The track has had a bad reputation because of previous owners, but our intentions are good and we are here to work with the residents of the area,” said Ringer. “We just ask that everyone give us a fair chance to show what we are about and don’t judge us by the previous owners.”
Ringer and Hupke bought the dragstrip in Jan. 2015 but because of the frequency of rain last spring and summer, most events were cancelled.
This year, the duo is ready for a full slate of racing including a major event this weekend June 3-5 called Glued.
Glued features more than $60,000 in payouts and three racers from the hit TV show Street Outlaws on the Discovery Channel.
