Indiana Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann spent the day in Newton County Wednesday visiting with business leaders and elected officials on a journey that will take her to all 92 Indiana counties this year. Ellspermann took office in January with Governor Mike Pence. She is from Dubouis County in the southwestern corner of the state, and planned this tour to acquaint herself with each of the counties. She is speaking to the elected officials and businesses to discover their county’s strengths and weaknesses, and to ask what the State of Indiana can do for them.
She visited with elected officials in the morning at the Newton County Government Center. Neither the public nor the press were invited to these meetings. In the afternoon, Ellspermann met with a number of business owners at the Fair Oaks Farms Club House, where a number of issues were discussed. She said afterwards in an interview with this reporter Newton County businesses are pleased with the local environment.
