MONTICELLO — The woman involved in the stealing of two cars and assorted items earlier this year pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to one count of burglary, according to her lawyer.
Samantha Bennett, 27, was charged in March with a Level 4 felony burglary and Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamines.
The incident occurred March 18, when Bennett and fellow Muncie resident James Thomas were found to have stolen an SUV, a truck, Worx batteries and a charger, a Harley Davidson jacket and other items from the vehicle owner's garage.
The couple was found by police deputies and the vehicles were searched. Video footage from the deputy's vehicle showed Bennett removing a plastic bag from her person and throwing it in the car. The bag was later found to have substances that tested positive for methamphetamine inside, according to court documents.
Bennett appeared in court for her trial Wednesday morning, and her sentencing date was set for 1 p.m. on July 29.
