WOLCOTT — A familiar face is returning to Tri-County Junior/Senior High School, but this time, it will be as principal.

James Haskins was welcomed back to the school Monday as he was officially named the new principal. He replaces Dr. Cathy Rowe, who recently left Tri-County to take the superintendent position at North Newton School Corporation.

Haskins was formerly a math instructor at Tri-County before taking a position as athletic director and assistant principal at Covington High School.

Mark Gretencord was named Tri-County’s new varsity football coach, while Jennifer Dawson was named varsity volleyball coach.

Gretencord is the school’s junior high math teacher and will maintain his position as varsity boys basketball coach. For Dawson, it will be her first varsity coaching experience.

Lioneil Cabana was hired as a high school science teacher. He comes from the medical scribe field into the education profession.

In addition to new hires, other business updates were provided.

Joe Briggs, from Gibraltar Architecture, provided a report on the various construction projects occurring throughout the school corporation. Most projects are nearly complete, including the pool renovations. All projects will be completed by the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Kendall Dennison, athletic trainer for Tri-County, also provided an update on the best prevention and treatment practices used for Tri-County student-athletes.
