LAKE FREEMAN — A fire aboard a small watercraft Saturday evening was captured on video by several people in and around the area.
The fire occurred sometime around 6 p.m. when the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office receive a call of a boat fire on Lake Freeman. Leigh Ann Rogers, of Pendleton (between Anderson and Indianapolis) sent the Herald Journal a video and still image from her vantage point at a home along the shore of Lake Freeman.
Many boaters and visitors were on Lake Freeman for the "Honor Our Veterans Boat Parade" earlier that morning and the night’s planned Fourth of July fireworks display.
Calls and emails to several area emergency rescue agencies, including the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, seeking more information were not answered as of noon Sunday.
In a message to the HJ’s Facebook account, Rogers wrote that the “boat is completely burnt” and that it happened “right by where the Madam Carroll parks for the winter.”
Damage to the boat, nor if there were any reported injuries, could not be independently verified.
The HJ will update this story as more information becomes available.
