NEWTON COUNTY — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the animal abuse at Fair Oaks Farms. 

Edgar Gardozo-Vasquez, 36, of Brook, was taken into custody Wednesday by the Newton County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for animal cruelty, a Class A misdemeanor, and Level 6 torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal.

He is currently being held at the Newton County Jail, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a hold on him. 

There are still outstanding warrants for Santiago Ruvalcaba Contreros and Miguel Angel Navarro Serrano. 

Assisting agencies included Jasper County Sheriff and Indiana State Police.
