Veterans remembered in Maple Grove Cemetery

Three hundred and sixty seven crosses are set out in Maple Grove Cemetery, done so by cemetery caretaker Steve Hawthorne. It’s something he does for both Veterans Day, which is Nov. 11, and Memorial Day in May in honor of those who served, specifically those who are buried in Maple Grove Cemetery. It took Hawthorne, a veteran himself, several hours to place the memorials, but doing so is an honor for him, he said. “We’re the sum of our parts.” The men and women represented by the crosses did the job they were asked to do so Americans can have the freedoms they have.
