The Milford/Sheldon girls recreational softball team defeated St. Anne in the championship game. The final score was 3-1.
On the mound for Milford/Sheldon was Julia Bushnell. Bushnell pitched a total of seven innings.
Both Maya McEwen and Bushnell lead the team offensively for Milford Sheldon. McEwen was 2-3 with one RBI while Bushnell was 2-2 at bat.
Taking home the loss for St. Anne was Kendall Yuknis. Yuknis pitched six innings and earned seven strike outs for the night.
Offensively, Brandi Chase and Shelby Davis were both 2-3 at the plate.
Milford/Sheldon head coach, Robin Warren, was proud of the way her team played and expressed her excitement of watching the girls grow as players over the years.
“Summer softball is where it all started for a lot of these girls. Most of them have been playing for 10 years with our league. This is where they learned about the game and their love for it,” she said.
Warren also credited the teams defensive capabilities throughout the season for the teams success this year, and were able to fulfill their team motto.
“We had outstanding defense all season and we have been sticking to the saying “defense wins championships”.
