Village board president Dave Maro said the agreement is still being drawn up and it needs the appropriate signatures. The agreement will include offering Caldwell an MSA structural engineer to inspect the building. He said it’s just an inspection, not for the engineer to design any repairs which may be needed. The village will pay a portion of the expense, with Caldwell paying the remaining. He said if she does not make the asked changes then she’ll have to pay the full cost.
The biggest issue with the village asking for the engineer’s review, or an architect’s drawings which was also suggested at previous meetings, is “It’s not a hardware store anymore. It's a facility that can hold 500 people. The codes and requirements change.”
