What does this business do?

It’s an alternative to staying in a hotel in this area. We’re geared toward stays for visiting family, weddings, funerals, family reunions, or those who are in town for business. There are two apartment-like “rooms”. Each unit available for stay has a living room, kitchen/dining room, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms; the bedrooms have a king, queen and twin beds in them.

What was the reason for starting this business?

We already had the building, and originally, there were apartments in it.

What is the best thing about being located in Milford/Iroquois County?

It’s convenient, as it’s centrally located between Hoopeston and Watseka. And there’s not many places to stay in these two towns.

What is the biggest challenge?

There hasn’t been a challenge yet. We just want to make people as comfortable as possible.

When is your busiest time of the year?

We’ve just been open for a few months; we’re still learning.

What is the thing you most like to do as part of your business?

Meeting new people

What is the best thing about owning your own business?

I’m a very social person, and I’m a nurturer and caretaker by nature. I want to help people relax and help meet their needs.

What is the biggest downside?

There hasn’t been a downside yet.

What is the biggest misconception about your business?

It’s not a B&B or a regular hotel.

When it comes time to retire is there a family member who will be taking over for you?

It’s already a family-oriented business.

What advice would you give someone thinking about starting a business?

Go for it. You never know until you try.
