Clifton’s annual Fun Days is this weekend.
“The Fun Days Committee is busy getting ready for another fun-filled event,” said Shannon James with the Fun Days committee. “Come on out Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 to enjoy some old-fashioned community fun.”
New this year, she said, is complimentary airbrush tattoos and Que It Up BBQ.
Town wide garage sales will begin Friday morning and continue through Saturday. James said, “This is always a crowd favorite.”
On Friday the food will be fixed.
The fish fry by the Main Street Diner begins at 4 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. in the air conditioned community building. Other food vendors starting at 4 p.m. and continuing through Saturday night include Jaenickes, pork chops presented by CHS Cross Country, pizza by Main Street Diner, Honey’s, Dippin’ Dots, Que It Up BBQ.
The beer tent will open at 4 p.m., as well.
Inflatable warrior run, dual slide, and Skee Ball open at 4 p.m. and will continue through Saturday evening. The airbrush tattoo tent will begin at 4 p.m. for complimentary skin decoration.
Back by popular demand from 5-7 p.m. is the famous Clifton Fun Days balloon artist.
The ever popular dime toss begins at 5 p.m. and will be open until 8:30 p.m.
“Who doesn’t love a parade and the Fun Days will have their very own on Friday evening at 7 p.m. Favorite Movie/TV Show is the theme,” James said.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. and will follow its usual route.
Andy & JD will entertain the crowd from 7:30–10:30 p.m. with an acoustic rock and country set.
Eight p.m. brings with it two fun events to choose from depending on your age.
A kids pool party begins at 8 p.m. at the Clifton Centennial Pool. Cost is $1 and entry is at the discretion of pool staff.
Beer (water) pong also begins under the pavilion at 8 p.m.; sign-ups begin at 7:30 p.m.
D.J. Dennis “Big D” Mann will follow Andy & JD to continue the musical entertainment at 10:30 p.m.
James said, “Some excellent musical entertainment will be provided each night including a couple of my personal favorites: JD & Andy on Friday evening and John David Daley on Saturday.”
On Saturday, get up early and head to the park for the Running to Remember Jacob “JJ” Justice 5K Run/Walk. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Races begin at 8:30 a.m.
At 11 a.m. the food vendors and inflatable warrior run, dual slide, and Skee Ball open; and the bags tourney starts, sign-ups at 10:30 a.m. Complimentary skin decorations continue today so be sure to stop by the airbrush tattoo tent. The dime toss begins at 11 a.m., as well.
The beer tent opens at noon.
Activity continues at 1 p.m. when one can choose to participate in kids games or cool off in the community building playing bingo.
Making a return visit to the Fun Days is a game that puts a twist on the traditional game of bingo, music bingo. Rather than listening for numbers to be called, participants listen to music and mark the song titles off their bingo card. There is no cost to play and no music knowledge is necessary. Join DJ “JayJ” in the shade under the pavilion at 2 p.m. as he plays songs from categories such as today’s country, classic rock, Disney, one hit wonders and more.
“Back by popular demand, you will definitely not want to miss the ‘Cold Blooded Creatures’ show at 3 p.m. on Saturday,” James said. “Then at 4:30 p.m. witness an incredibly entertaining performance by ‘Circus Boy’ Bobby Hunt.”
The Chebanse Township Fire Department will present two musical entertainment groups Saturday evening. A local favorite, “Ryan Leggot & Company”, will begin at 6 p.m. and John David Daley, a country music artist, will take the stage at 9 p.m.
