Christmas parade Friday in Watseka

The area will be celebrating this Friday as the annual City of Watseka Lighted Christmas Parade will take place.

The parade steps off at 7 p.m. Line up will be on South Second Street in front of Glenn Raymond School and adjacent streets. The parade will then head north to Walnut Street, go east on Walnut Street to Fifth Street, turn south on Fifth to Cherry Street, head east on Cherry to Third Street and turn south on Third Street to Washington Street where the parade will disperse.Phillip L. Wenz will appear as Santa Claus this year. Wenz, an Iroquois County resident, first appeared as Santa Claus in the annual Watseka parade in November of 1977, when he was just a 14-year-old freshman at Watseka Community High School.
