Karen and Erich (Bohlmann) Borgers, of Woodworth, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house July 6 from 2-4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran School Multi-Purpose Room, located at 108 W. Woodworth Road, Milford.
They were married July 4th, 1969 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Woodworth by Rev. Luther Hasz.
Karen and Erich met while attending Concordia Teachers College in River Forest.
After graduating, Karen taught at Zion Lutheran while Erich completed his education at Chicago Technical College. Erich worked as an environmental engineer. He retired from the City of Champaign after 22 years of service. Karen retired after 20 years of teaching and serving as part-time principal at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Woodworth. After living in several different communities in northern Illinois, they chose to raise their family in Woodworth where they have retired. They are active members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
The couple have three children: Darenda Gonzales, of Penbroke Pines, Fla.; Jonathan (Holly) Borgers, of Woodworth; Pamela (David) Jenkins, of West Lafayette, Ind. They are the proud grandparents of Nathaniel, Carter, Camille, Hannah, Megan, Chloe, Christopher, and Charlotte.
